During his appearance on the program "L'Invité du jour" on Channel 3, Prof. Hartani emphasized that digitisation is a key step in modernising Algerian agriculture, which has long lagged in terms of technology. He lamented the lack of reliable information and the absence of centralised databases, which hinder the effective management of strategic sectors.

He revealed that nearly $100 billion has been invested in the agricultural sector over the past 20 years, 80% dedicated to the grain industry, and that digitisation has enabled better traceability of these resources. Livestock farming and mechanisation are also affected, particularly through the use of microchips and data management to reduce imports.

The professor emphasised the need to centralise agricultural data to anticipate needs and target aid efficiently. He called for raising awareness among farmers, even in remote areas, about the use of appropriate digital tools. Finally, he announced the upcoming creation of a national agricultural information system and stressed the importance of the National Agriculture Conference scheduled for late October in structuring this transition.
