Moscow seeks to diversify its partnership with Algeria

At the Algerian-Russian Business Forum, Russia expressed its willingness to support Algeria in diversifying its economy, proposing to extend strategic cooperation well beyond traditional sectors.

The Algerian-Russian forum held in Algiers, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Trade, reaffirmed the shared desire to strengthen and diversify bilateral economic relations. The Russian Deputy Ambassador expressed his country's support for Algeria's economic diversification strategy, citing the willingness of Russian companies to invest in various sectors, including digital technology, finance, trade and mining. On the Algerian side, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its commitment to supporting economic operators and working to achieve a balance in trade by facilitating Algerian product access to the Russian market. The president of the Algerian-Russian Business Council recalled the visit of more than 400 Russian companies to Algeria since the beginning of the year and emphasised the objective of rebalancing the trade balance. This forum is aligned with the agreements signed during President Tebboune's visit to Moscow in 2023 and with a geostrategic dynamic aimed at a sustainable and balanced partnership between Algiers and Moscow.
