During a multi-sector Russian business mission to Algeria, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Abdeslam Djahnit, highlighted the shared goal of reaching $10 billion in trade by the end of the decade, a target considered realistic given the potential between the two countries. Currently, 70% of trade is based on energy and agriculture; however, other sectors such as digital technologies, artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, and smart agriculture offer significant opportunities. Algeria has an active young population and resources (including 8.5 million hectares of arable land) that are conducive to a strategic partnership based on trust and sustainability. Algerian and Russian representatives have called for more concrete agreements, easier access for Algerian products to the Russian market, and stronger support for SMEs. The meeting is perceived as a lever for repositioning Algerian-Russian economic cooperation on a solid and balanced footing.
