Meeting in Vienna, European stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to the SoutH2 Corridor project, a 3,300 km gas pipeline linking Algeria and Tunisia to Italy, Austria and Germany. This strategic project aims to supply European industrial hubs with green hydrogen at competitive prices, building on existing natural gas infrastructure. It is considered crucial to achieving the EU's low-carbon and energy security goals, with the potential to cover more than 40% of the hydrogen import needs forecast in the REPowerEU plan. Discussions also focused on regulatory harmonisation to create a favourable framework for investment and cross-border cooperation. The Italian part of the project, led by Snam, has already received €24 million in European funding for feasibility studies, out of a total budget of €48 million.
