Textron Aviation Inc. announced today at the Paris Air Show that Tassili Travail Aérien (TTA) has signed a purchase agreement for two new Cessna SkyCourier aircraft, the first order for a SkyCourier-equipped medical aircraft and the first SkyCourier order in Africa, Business Wire reports.
"The Cessna SkyCourier is a versatile aircraft capable of supporting difficult missions, high payloads and short, rough runways worldwide," said Bob Gibbs, Vice President, Special Mission Sales.
According to the same source, the Cessna SkyCourier large twin-engine turboprop utility aircraft will modernize TTA's fleet, offering improved efficiency and reliability, and reduced operating costs, while supporting transport and medical evacuation missions. The two aircraft will be based in Algiers and Hassi Messaoud, Algeria. Delivery of the two aircraft ordered is scheduled for 2026.
Tassili Travail Aérien is to remain part of the Sonatrach group, while Tassili Airlines is to disappear and become a company specialising in the Algerian domestic network, following the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune's decision.
The launch of the new airline, which will take over the assets and teams of Tassili Airlines, is a matter of time. A meeting was held this week at the Ministry of Transport to finalise the process of its creation.
