The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Wassim Kouidri, announced that Algeria will obtain the WHO ML3 international certification in October, allowing the export of locally produced medicines and confirming their compliance with global standards. He emphasized that domestic production now meets more than 80% of the market's needs, with hospital supplies having tripled in five years, thereby ensuring the country's health security.
The minister also highlighted the reforms undertaken to strengthen the pharmaceutical system, particularly in the fight against cancer and the production of innovative medicines. He specified that only eight medicines are currently experiencing supply disruptions.
The Hospitalia-Expo trade show is presented as a strategic platform for developing the sector, promoting partnerships and innovation. Kouidri emphasizes the integration of digitization and research, with a vision of health sovereignty and sustainable development.
Finally, Abdelouahed Kerrar, president of UNOP, calls for better regulation of the domestic market and greater openness to international trade, with a focus on biotechnological medicines, particularly vaccines and blood products.
