Sétif: Opening of the 1st international seminar on artificial intelligence and its applications in financial services
Since Monday, the Ferhat-Abbas University (Sétif 1) has been hosting the 1st international seminar on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in financial services”, attended by 250 specialists, including 9 foreigners from Malaysia, Egypt, the Sultanate of Oman, the Republic of Korea, Poland, and Tunisia.
Speaking on the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Prof. Chawki Bourokba, Dean of the Faculty of Economic, Commercial and Management Sciences, the event's initiating body, explained that this scientific seminar "aims to be a regular annual event, designed to examine contemporary economic issues currently addressed by AI".
Over two days, participants will present 53 papers focusing on "the uses of AI in the financial field, in general, and in financial services, in particular", added Prof. Bourokba, stressing that the main objectives of the meeting are to "exchange experiences, to benefit from those of other countries, to identify the most important tools and techniques currently used in the field of financial services worldwide, and to study ways in which national financial institutions can benefit from these experiences".
The same speaker also emphasized that the "diversity of participants" - academics, professionals (managers of financial institutions), students and researchers - and the expected papers should enrich the debate and give impetus to exchange experiences with other countries.
The event will also be marked by an exhibition, in the Faculty of Economics, Business and Management at the University of Sétif 1, featuring examples of student projects linked to using AI and financial techniques.
