A strategy meeting chaired by the Minister of Transport, Said Sayoud, was held in the presence of the CEO of Air Algérie and senior officials from the sector to accelerate the modernization of Algiers International Airport. This project, considered a priority, aims to transform the airport into an intelligent infrastructure incorporating advanced technologies such as facial recognition and body scanners. An inter-institutional committee will be set up to oversee the implementation of the security, technical, and legal project aspects. This transformation will support Air Algérie's ambitions, notably its international expansion and creation of a domestic subsidiary following the acquisition of Tassili Airlines. Strengthening the network of destinations will also depend on the gradual delivery of 16 new aircraft, the first wide-body jets of which are expected to arrive in September 2025. These reforms aimed at improving the passenger experience and bringing airport infrastructures into line with international standards.
