The craft industry in Algeria plays a key role in the national economy, contributing more than 350 billion dinars to the GDP and creating more than 1.18 million jobs. On 9 November, National Craft Day, the Minister of Handicrafts praised craftspeople for preserving cultural heritage and supporting economic diversification.

For the first time, Algeria will be the guest of honour at the Milan International Craft Fair, providing an international platform for 80 Algerian artisans. This participation promotes local creations and enhances the country's tourism image.

The sector faces challenges, including access to raw materials and marketing. The National Chamber of Handicrafts supports artisans by simplifying administrative and legal procedures. In El M'Ghair, a program has been launched to showcase local products and participate in exhibitions.

During the event, Fatiha Bayoud from Ouargla won the first prize (local talent) for her cosmetic essential oils, which are recognized nationally and internationally.
