Holland aims to strengthen cooperation with Algeria in strategic areas

The ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Anne Elisabeth Luwema, stated on Tuesday in Algiers that her country is keen to strengthen its cooperation relations with Algeria in various strategic areas.

“This moment marks the official start of my mission as Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Algeria,” said Anne Elisabeth Luwema in a statement following the ceremony to present her credentials to the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Following her thanks to the Algerian government and people for the warm welcome she received, she pledged to work towards “strengthening the ties of good understanding and friendship that exist between the two countries”, citing in particular bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and investment.


Mr Anne Elisabeth Luwema recalled, on the occasion, that relations between the two countries are based on active cooperation in several strategic sectors, such as agriculture and water management while sharing expertise and technology to meet the climate challenge.

In addition to these sectors, the two countries are working together on the issue of energy transition through the exploitation of renewable energies, in particular green hydrogen, while strengthening exchanges in the academic field and research, as well as in the sports sector, she mentioned.

Note that the hearing took place in the presence of the Director of Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Boualem Boualem and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf.
