Tourism: El Pais newspaper showcases Algeria as a travel destination

On Thursday, Spanish newspaper El Pais promoted Algeria as a travel destination in its El Pais Viajes section, describing it as a “little-known gem, rich in contrasts and treasures that remain largely unexplored.”

The article by Sara Andrade Abad, entitled "Algiers, a journey between monuments, desert, and Cervantes", highlights Algeria as a rich and authentic tourist destination, combining culture, history, and nature.

Drawing on the experience of novelist Emma Lira, author of a book on Cervantes' captivity in Algiers, he presents a twelve-day journey planned for January and March 2026, connecting Algiers to the Sahara. The itinerary includes the Casbah and the Cervantes Cave, as well as the ancient sites of Tipaza, Timgad, and Djemila.

The journey continues to Ghardaïa, Timimoun, Béni Abbès, and Taghit, offering a glimpse into the Algerian landscapes and heritage diversity. The article describes Algeria as a land of adventure and beauty, still little known but fascinating.
