Industrial tomatoes: 3.4 million quintals harvested in El Tarf

An estimated 3.4 million quintals of industrial tomatoes were produced in the wilaya of El Tarf during the 2024-2025 harvest season, which began last June, according to Zeïna Djouidi, head of the agricultural production office at the Directorate of Agricultural Services (DSA), on Sunday.

Industrial tomato production in the wilaya of El Tarf reached 3.4 million quintals, grown on 4,540 hectares, 98%, using drip irrigation. This crop was concentrated in the municipalities of Dréan, Besbes, Ben M'hidi, Boutheldja, and El Tarf, with an average yield of 750 quintals per hectare.

Of the total harvest, 2,148 million quintals were sent to seven local processing units (10,700 tons/day), as well as to nine plants in other provinces (Annaba, Skikda, Guelma, Sétif, and Mila), in addition to 24,850 tons per day.

This performance is attributed to the support provided to farmers through financial aid, technical guidance, and regular monitoring.
