NAPEC 2025: “Creating regional energy markets,” says Mourad Adjal

During his speech at the opening ceremony of the 13th edition of the International Exhibition “Africa & Mediterranean Energy and Hydrogen Exhibition and Conference (NAPEC 2025),” the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy, Mourad Adjal, stated that: “it is essential to successfully chart a course towards a low-carbon energy future, which is a strategic choice approved by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.”

Algeria affirms its ambition to become a key player in the regional and international energy transition by focusing on enhanced cooperation with African and Mediterranean countries. The country supports the development of structured hydrogen and cross-border energy networks projects to create integrated regional markets, in line with climate and sustainable development objectives. Algeria is also committed to promoting renewable energy sources, with a particular focus on solar energy. Algeria has announced plans to invest $100 billion in renewable energy projects by 2030, including $30 billion in solar energy. Algeria is also developing its natural gas sector, with plans to increase production by 50% by 2030. The country is also expanding its LNG production capacity, with plans to increase production by 50% by 2030.

Algeria is strengthening its energy infrastructure to consolidate its position as a reliable supplier, continuing discussions on electricity exchange between the two shores of the Mediterranean, and on the development of the "South2 Corridor" project dedicated to hydrogen transport.

The government strongly encourages investment in hydrogen and its derivatives, as well as in innovative industrial projects, to stimulate sustainable growth, job creation, and national economic integration. Mourad Adjal calls on public and private companies to become actively involved in these projects.

In addition, renewable energy projects totalling 3,200 MW have been launched, contributing to gas savings, decarbonization, and the export of green electricity.
