NAPEC 2025: Arkab announces a $60 billion investment plan over five years

At the opening of the 13th edition of the NAPEC Exhibition (Africa & Mediterranean Energy & Hydrogen Exhibition and Conference), Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab delivered a powerful speech announcing a $60 billion investment plan over the next five years to modernize national energy infrastructure, boost production, and accelerate the transition to new and renewable energies.

At NAPEC 2025 in Oran, Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab stated that Algeria's energy transition includes natural gas as a strategic fuel. He announced a $60 billion investment plan (2025–2029), mainly dedicated to upstream oil and gas, and welcomed the award of five exploration permits to international groups.

He also highlighted the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline project to Europe and the country's environmental commitments, including reducing flaring to less than 1% by 2030. Sonatrach CEO Rachid Hachichi emphasized Algeria's role as an energy bridge between Africa and Europe, the importance of innovations such as AI, CO₂ capture, and the development of green hydrogen.
