During a panel discussion organized on the sidelines of Napec in Oran, the Schneider Group highlighted Algeria's capacity for producing grey hydrogen, particularly through Sonatrach, which uses its technologies to produce around 400,000 tons per year. According to Schneider, the transition to green hydrogen is technically feasible by replacing natural gas with renewable energies.

Algeria aims to produce one million tons of green hydrogen per year by 2040, with Sonatrach engaged in developing a transport network to Europe. This strategy is preceded by a vast solar program launched in 2024, favouring locally manufactured equipment.

Schneider has invested nearly 10 billion dinars in factories in Algeria and claims to supply 50% of the equipment for the 3,000 MW solar energy program, consolidating its position as the leader in the domestic market.
