Western Mining Line: Major advances on the Tindouf-Gara Djebilet section

A special train, comprising eight locomotives and 80 transporters of concrete sleepers and rails, is now in operation to speed up track laying on the 135 km Tindouf-Gara Djebilet section. This initiative marks a key milestone in the Western Mining Line project linking Béchar, Tindouf and Gara Djebilet, over a total distance of 950 km.

Early delivery and technical innovations

Thanks to the use of this special train and a concrete sleeper production unit (capacity 3,000 units/day), the Chinese company CRCC plans to deliver the Tindouf-Gara Djebilet section as early as 2025, ahead of the contractual deadline of March 2026.

Strategic infrastructure for the economy

This project, supervised by Anesrif, is being carried out in several sections. The first section (200 km) and the second section (175 km) are in the hands of state-owned companies, while the third section (575 km) is being built by a consortium led by CRCC. The Western Mining Line represents a strategic asset for Algeria, facilitating the exploitation and transportation of mining resources.
