Renovation program for public hotels: 45 people prosecuted for embezzlement

The judge of the third chamber of the financial center of Sidi M’hamed, in Algiers, has been investigating for a few days an important case related to the renovation of three public hotels, located on the west coast of the capital: Le Mazafran in Zéralda, the Sidi Fredj complex with El Marsa hotel and the Marina Residence, better known as “H3”, which costs billions of dinars.

More than four dozen individuals, including many industry executives and public and private companies, have been charged to date. This investigation was initiated by the Chéraga court and concerns the public procurement procedures for the rehabilitation of these establishments initiated by the public authorities since 2011, more than 10 years. These delays have led to serious financial consequences.
