Miloud Medjelled, representing the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, affirmed Algeria's commitment to promoting sustainable solutions in maritime and air transport, using renewable energies and hydrogen to achieve carbon neutrality. Algeria has already adopted solutions such as e-methanol and LNG, and is setting up clean fuel facilities in Arzew and Skikda.

In aviation, a pilot project with Air Algérie aims to produce sustainable aviation fuels. Medjelled emphasized that the transport sector accounts for 7% of global CO2 emissions, making the transition urgent.

Concerning hydrogen, Algeria has adopted a national strategy with six main priorities, including the production and export of 30 to 40 terawatt-hours of hydrogen by 2040, to cover 10% of European demand and strengthen its position as a clean energy hub.
