Offshore hydrocarbons in Algeria: a Sonatrach official says he is optimistic

news-detail

The same official stated that Sonatrach, in partnership with Eni, started producing gas at a rate of one million cubic meters per day in the gas field located in the ‘southern Berkine basin’.

He also indicated that production in this field will reach about two million cubic meters of gas before the end of the current year, which will support the country’s capacity in gas production and export and strengthen Sonatrach’s position in the international gas market, which will enable it to better meet the needs of the European continent.

The same official announced that the Company has adopted an ambitious strategy in the field of exploration, as it covers prospecting and exploration operations in all sedimentary basins, and should also include all existing sea basins in the Western Mediterranean.

Mr. Rabie Badji said he was very optimistic about the prospective exploration and exploration operations along the coast, hoping that they would be successful, like those announced by a number of international oil companies in the Eastern Mediterranean to strengthen and renew national reserves in the gas and oil fields.

In this vision, Badji Rabie indicated that Sonatrach spends $1 billion annually on exploration and drilling operations, and investments in this area are expected to reach approximately $4 billion in the medium term.
