Oued Amizour zinc and lead mine: Government validates roadmap

According to the first ministry’s statement, “Feasibility studies for this project have shown that it is an economically viable project, with clear benefits for the region and the country.”

“As a result, the Government has reviewed and validated the roadmap for the realization of this project in the best possible conditions and time,” the statement said.

It should be recalled that the operation of this zinc and lead mine project in Oued Amizour (wilaya de Béjaïa) was announced for 2026.

Its operation was entrusted to an Algerian-Australian joint venture. The mine’s exploitable potential is estimated at 34 million tons for an annual production of 170,000 tons of zinc concentrate, according to the joint venture.
