The Russian market opens up to “Made in Algeria”

Algerian agri-food products began entering the Russian market after several national companies showcased their products at the World Food Moscow 2025.

The Algerian pavilion attracted considerable interest at the International Food and Beverage Exhibition held in Moscow from September 16 to 19. Fifteen national companies showcased the quality and competitiveness of Algerian products. According to Mahdi Bouguedoura, president of the Algerian-Russian Business Council, several contracts were signed, and some companies are already targeting exports worth $10 million. The Russian market, considered very receptive, offers solid opportunities for Algerian exporters, particularly in the agri-food sector. Bilateral meetings and a workshop on Russian standards reinforced this momentum. Given the excellent political relations between Algeria and Russia, the challenge remains to intensify economic exchanges. In 2023, trade reached $3.7 billion; however, the untapped potential is estimated at an additional $9 billion.
