Insurance: Brokerage activity generates 60 billion dinars

The Algerian insurance sector is experiencing a certain momentum driven by the remarkable growth of brokerage activity, which now generates 60 billion dinars in revenue and is establishing itself as the main driver of insurance service penetration in the country.

The Algerian insurance sector is experiencing significant growth, with an increase in the number of licensed brokers from 40 in 2019 to 62 in 2025, generating premiums of 15 billion dinars.  This development is part of a national network of more than 3,200 agencies, including 1,200 direct agencies. Brokers play a central role in the distribution of insurance products and drive innovation, particularly in takaful insurance, which recorded 57% growth in premiums in the first half of 2025, with a threefold increase in the number of policyholders. This momentum is accompanied by digital transformation and the promotion of financial inclusion. Several strategic agreements have been signed, strengthening cooperation between brokers and insurers, protecting policyholders, and training in the sector.
