Considered one of the tax authority's major projects, tax collection saw a further increase this year. "For 2024, there was a 5.5% increase in ordinary taxes collected by the DGI. We went from DA2,401 million to DA2,534 million up to October 31, 2024," revealed Ms Abdellatif during her appearance on Algerian Radio Channel 3's "L'invité du jour" program.

"This increase is due not only to an increase in the global income tax (IRG) but also to a slight rise in other segments of ordinary taxation", she explained, before adding: "This remains insufficient, as our imperative is to cover public expenditure. To achieve this, we all need to try.

Towards the completion of digitalization

Invited to give an initial assessment of the digitization operation in the tax sector, Ms Abdellatif pointed out that the efforts and operations undertaken by the tax authorities in recent years had led to the multiplication of online declaration and payment sites, citing the "Jibayatic" and "Moussahamatic" portals as examples.

The DGI was also pleased with the results achieved "Tabioucom" platform, dedicated to online payment of tax stamp duties, launched on August 8.

"In four months, we were able to issue 113,937 receipts, for a total of 332.6 million dinars," she said.

Concerning other projects underway to improve the DGI's services, she pointed out that these services have targeted nine interfaces which will be completed during the first quarter of 2025. Four of the nine interfaces have been finalized, including the one linking the DGI to the Ministry of the Interior to link the tax identification number (NIF) to the national identification number (NIN).
