Algeria-China: strengthening cooperation in the hydrocarbons and mining sector

On Wednesday, Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mining Mohamed Arkab received Dong Guangli, China's ambassador to Algeria.

Minister Mohamed Arkab met with the Chinese Ambassador to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the hydrocarbons and mining sectors. They welcomed the strategic partnership between Sonatrach and Sinopec, consolidated by an agreement signed in July 2025. Arkab encouraged Chinese companies to participate in future tenders, highlighting their expertise and capabilities.

In the mining sector, several major projects were discussed (iron, phosphate, zinc, lead), as well as opportunities in the exploitation of resources such as gold and rare earths. The minister highlighted the new legal framework favourable to investment. The Chinese ambassador expressed his confidence in the development of new joint projects, reflecting the strength of relations between the two countries.
