Sonatrach: the refining activity reaches "excellent" production levels

The refining activity reached "excellent levels of production of petroleum products. It achieved record levels of production of diesel fuel (9.5 million tonnes) and gasoline (3.4 million tonnes)", a indicated the national company of hydrocarbons in a press release on the achievements accomplished during the past year.

In 2020, Sonatrach's refining activity recorded an increase of 7.4% in the volumes of oil and condensate processed compared to 2019, from 27.2 million tonnes to 29.1 million tonnes, specified the same source.

This increase was favored in particular by the ramp-up of the Algiers refinery, which allowed Sonatrach to stop its imports of diesel since March 2020 and gasoline since August of the same year.

Sonatrach also exported, for the first time in the last decade, volumes of gasoline and diesel, the statement added.
