Customs authorities commit to speeding up customs clearance for imported vehicles

On October 1, the Customs Directorate General held a consultation meeting dedicated to addressing the difficulties encountered in clearing imported vehicles by individuals. The meeting, chaired by the Major General, Director General of Customs, aimed to reduce processing times, contain the costs borne by citizens, and relieve congestion at ports and extra-port areas.

The discussions highlighted the main obstacles hindering the smooth running of the process and led to the definition of a series of urgent measures. Participants agreed to strengthen coordination between the various stakeholders involved, improve logistics organization in port and non-port areas, and optimize the use of the ALCES customs information system. An interconnection between the institutions concerned will also be established to ensure better performance and greater transparency of operations.


At the end of this consultation, all participants reaffirmed their commitment to mobilize all necessary resources to implement these solutions. For its part, the Customs Directorate General emphasized its determination to modernize its procedures and improve the quality of service provided to users.
