Acquisition project of 7 large tonnage boat lifts for 1.3 billion DA

news-detail

The CEO of this subsidiary of the SERPORT Group revealed, during an interview with APS, that this "unprecedented" project in Algeria will "be launched before the end of the year" and will be used to dry up large fishing boats for maintenance and naval repair work.

Adding that the project, which represents an investment of nearly 1.3 billion DA, will save 6 million euros, i.e. the cost of the seven elevators in foreign currency, in addition to nearly 30 million euros per year in avoiding sending boats abroad for repair.

These elevators can lift between 150 and 250 tonnes and will be installed in the ports of Skikda, Bejaïa, Chlef, Mostaganem, Aïn Témouchent, El Tarf and Tlemcen, according to the same official.

In addition to these lifts, the Serport Group donated material handling equipment to its subsidiary, consisting of mobile cranes and forklifts for handling boats and engines inside ports.

The SGPP also plans to build 140 garages, for a budget of 300 million DA, that it will rent out by auction for the benefit of professionals in the field of "basic" maintenance of boats, underlined the official, stressing that demand is "strong" with already 13 garages ready to be let in Beni Saf.

Mr Abboud added that 18 refueling stations with fuel and lubricants will be built with an envelope of 288 million DA in partnership with Naftal, indicating that the signing of the related contract "is expected in a few weeks".

This contract provides for the management of these stations by Naftal which will also take care of the recovery of used oils, he detailed, specifying that the SGPP will put the maximum number of oil recovery bins at the ports to multiply collection points, in order to preserve the environment.

The other support service that the SGPP will provide to fishermen consists of ten (10) ice factories for a total budget of 70 million DA, two of which are already "operational" at the port of Salamandre in Mostaganem and Ténès in Chlef, argued the CEO of the company.

Adding that they will operate 24 hours a day and will be operated by SGPP staff to "offer better proximity to users as well as competitive prices".

All these projects fit, according to him, within the framework of the Serport Group's policy which is based on the involvement of national economic companies, the rationalization of the use of currencies in addition to offering added value and creating jobs, with more than 1,100 direct and indirect jobs for all of these projects.
