"This milestone illustrates the ramp-up of the industrial site, which opened in December 2023, and its contribution to the development of the automotive industry in Algeria," the carmaker said.

According to the same source, the plant plans to reach 60,000 units in the current year and then 90,000 in 2026, following the production of 17,000 vehicles in 2024.

This step "confirms the emergence of the Tafraoui site as a regional industrial hub for Stellantis and reaffirms the Group's long-term commitment to the development of the automotive industry in Algeria," the statement said.

FIAT Algeria also noted that these achievements were "made possible thanks to the commitment of the factory's 1,784 talented employees, who benefited from more than 432,000 hours of training provided in partnership with the National Institute for Vocational Training (INSFP) in Belgaïd, Oran."

In addition, apprentices from six other training centres in the Oran region regularly undertake practical training at the FIAT plant in Tafraoui, covering various specialities related to the automotive industry, according to the same source.
