Sonatrach signs contract with Chinese company to build hydrotreatment plant

Sonatrach and the Chinese company SINOPEC Guangzhou Engineering Co., Ltd signed a contract on Monday for the construction of a hydrotreating and reforming unit (CCR type) for processing heavy naphtha at the Arzew refinery, the national oil group announced in a statement.

Sonatrach has signed a contract with SINOPEC Guangzhou Engineering CO., Ltd., a Chinese company, for the construction of a hydrotreating and reforming unit at the Arzew refinery. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and the CEO of Sonatrach, Noureddine Daoudi. The project, which will cover 5 hectares and take 30 months to complete, will enable the processing of 738,000 tons of heavy naphtha per year. It will increase the refinery's gasoline production from 550,000 tons to 1.2 million tons per year. This development is part of Sonatrach's strategic plan to strengthen national refining capacity and meet the demand for gasoline in the western and southwestern regions.
