Algeria has opened a new Consulate General in San Francisco, California, to serve the needs of more than 15,000 Algerian nationals living on the West Coast of the United States, who were previously dependent on the New York consulate. This new location covers the states of California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington, greatly facilitating administrative procedures for the local diaspora.

Presented as a strategic decision, this opening aims to strengthen Algeria's diplomatic presence in a region with significant economic weight, bring consular services closer to citizens, and mobilize Algerian expertise abroad in the service of national development. The announcement was made on the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the War of Liberation, highlighting its symbolic and political significance.
