The Departments of Commerce and Agriculture have announced the implementation of a unified information system to monitor prices, agricultural product availability, and market fluctuations in real time. This tool aims to anticipate imbalances, prevent shortages, and contain sudden price increases in a context marked by high agricultural price instability in 2024 and 2025. The example of potatoes, whose price exceeded 120 DZD/kg in October 2024, illustrates the recurring tensions. To remedy this, an emergency destocking of 35,000 tons was carried out. To complement this, a permanent monitoring unit will be created to ensure coordination among stakeholders, monitor supply, and provide stabilization to the markets.
