National insurance market: 8.4% growth for the automotive sector

The national insurance market, across all sectors, continued to grow during the first half of the current year, boosted in part by the automotive industry, which recorded total revenue of nearly 40 billion dinars, representing growth of 8.4% compared to June 30, 2024, corresponding to additional production of around 3.1 billion dinars between the two comparison periods.

The Algerian insurance sector performed well in the first half of 2025, with total revenue of 99.3 billion dinars, up 8.1% compared to 2024. Property and casualty insurance dominated the market, accounting for more than 81% of the market share, with a particular focus on the automotive sector, which contributed nearly half of this activity. This sector grew by 8.4%, driven by increases in civil liability rates (+30%) and growth in "all risks," "theft and fire," "collision," and "assistance" coverage.

The agricultural (+18.8%) and transport (+5.4%) industries also recorded significant increases. Personal insurance reached 12.1 billion Algerian dinars, despite a sharp decline in travel insurance (-46.1%) due to visa restrictions.


Finally, reported claims increased by 9% to 51.1 billion dinars, while compensation paid stood at 35.9 billion dinars, a 12.1% increase.
