Sonatrach and Occidental aim to expand their strategic partnership

On Wednesday, Sonatrach CEO Rachid Hachichi continued his many bilateral meetings with senior executives of international energy companies in a working session with Occidental Algérie CEO Warren Murdock.

According to the Sonatrach press release, these discussions, which took place in Italy on the occasion of the Mediterranean Energy Forum and Exhibition, being held in Italy from April 8 to 10, focused on ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding the strategic partnership between the two parties in the hydrocarbons sector.

 

Both parties also discussed joint investment opportunities across the energy value chain, particularly in hydrocarbon exploration and production.

 

On October 15, 2024, Sonatrach signed a memorandum of understanding with its partner, Occidental Petroleum Corporation, to strengthen relations and expand areas of cooperation in hydrocarbon exploration and production.

 

The Group says, "This agreement concerns the definition of the partnership framework between the two parties to conclude a fuel contract for the Berkine Centre region."

 

The press release also states that Sonatrach and Oxy, with other partners, will operate the Berkine concession under a hydrocarbon contract signed on July 19, 2022.
