A meeting between Sonatrach and the Indian group Larsen & Toubro (L&T) provided an opportunity to take stock of joint projects, in particular the commissioning of three gas processing units at Tinerkouk, Hassi Tigraine and Hassi Bahamou, which will come on stream in 2024. These facilities, with a combined capacity of around 12 million m³ of natural gas per day, mark a strategic step in the development of south-western Algeria.

Larsen & Toubro, via its subsidiary LTHE, had signed a contract worth 122 billion dinars with Sonatrach in 2019 to carry out these projects using the EPC model. The meeting also addressed the prospects for new partnerships, with L&T expressing its willingness to participate in future Sonatrach tenders.

Cooperation between the two parties also extends to the defence sector. During a visit to India in February 2025, the ANP Chief of Staff explored L&T's capabilities in defence systems and military technologies, paving the way for co-production and technology transfer projects.

Headquartered in Mumbai, L&T is a major industrial player in more than 50 countries, active in the engineering, construction, energy, defence and advanced technology sectors.
