Algeria-Belgium: Case-management partnership agreement signed

A partnership agreement was signed on Monday in Algiers between the Caisse Nationale des Assurances Sociales (CNAS) (National Social Security Fund) and the University Hospital of Brussels (Belgium). The agreement aims to improve the quality of case-management (medical care) for citizens.

The agreement was signed by the Director General of CNAS, Nadir Kouadria, and the Director General of the Brussels University Hospital (HUB), Renaud Witmeur, supervised by the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Fayçal Bentaleb, and the Belgian Ambassador to Algeria, Jean-Jacques Quairiat.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Bentaleb indicated that this partnership was part of the «framework of the efforts of the Algerian authorities aimed at improving the quality of medical care for citizens, stressing that it tended to strengthen collaboration and exchange in the medical field between the two countries and to benefit from advances in medical expertise in Belgium, in addition to the acquisition of medical skills in various fields, including paediatrics, oncology, and cardiac surgery.

To add, «The agreement includes clauses relating to training and technology transfer, through the establishment of a joint action programme in coordination with the health sector and the National Commission for Cancer Prevention and Control, which will initially focus on nuclear medicine, oncology and paediatrics.

On this occasion, the minister highlighted the national efforts made in the health field, «which continues to be strengthened by achievements reflecting the will of the State and its commitment to guarantee, to citizens, support qualitative health, as evidenced by the significant developments in the field of health».

For his part, the Belgian ambassador welcomed the relations of the two countries, emphasizing the importance of this agreement which can contribute to strengthening the exchange of expertise between the two parties in this area.

The Belgian delegation representing the HUB at the signing ceremony will visit the Bou-Ismaïl (Tipasa) children's medical and surgical clinic and the ‘Mohamed-Lamine Debaghine University Hospital in Algiers to find out about Algeria's experience and the resources available in this field.
