A roadmap for optimizing waste management

On Sunday, the Sonatrach Group announced the development of an operational roadmap to optimize waste management by 2030.

The roadmap is aligned with Sonatrach's HSE policy and the new law 25-02 on waste management and control, as well as Sonatrach's strategic alignment with its environmental objectives.

 

Accelerating the transition to a circular economy


Announced at the end of a panel discussion chaired by the Group's CEO, Rachid Hachichi, at Sonatrach's General Management headquarters, in the presence of some 150 executives and managers from various company structures, this roadmap will focus in particular on reducing waste at source, optimizing sorting, collection, storage and disposal processes, while developing a systematic approach to waste recovery as part of the circular economy. The meeting provided an opportunity for a rich and constructive exchange of views on the challenges of optimizing the management of waste generated by Sonatrach's various activities.


It also reflects the Group's commitment to sustainable consumption and production, while stepping up efforts to reduce its environmental footprint and accelerate the transition to a circular economy. Discussions focused on diagnosing current waste management practices within the company's facilities, identifying technical, organizational, logistical, and regulatory gaps, and sharing experiences, best practices and innovations in treatment, recycling and recovery.
