During the meeting, the CEO of "Houari Boumediène" International Airport gave a detailed technical presentation on the airport's current situation, outlining the challenges linked to operations, safety, digitization, and passenger reception. He added that this diagnosis was part of implementing previous guidelines issued by the Minister, who praised the efforts and constant support given to the modernization process. In his speech, Mr. Sayoud recalled the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, concerning the need to modernize Algerian airports, asserting that Algiers airport will serve as the starting point for implementing this approach, which will then be extended to all the country's airports, to improve the quality of air services and enhance Algeria's international image. The Minister described the Algiers airport modernization project as a "national and strategic priority", calling for the integration of intelligent surveillance systems, including latest-generation cameras, body scanners and identity recognition technologies, as well as the creation of a unified operations centre ensuring real-time monitoring of the various operating stages. He also stressed that enhanced security and the protection of personal data are two fundamental pillars of this project, praising the efforts of the security bodies and the effective role of Customs in facilitating procedures while ensuring compliance with legislation without hindering the movement of travellers. Lastly, the minister recommended the creation of a permanent coordination committee comprising representatives from the security, customs, data protection and technical services.
