Algeria to remain an active player to meet the challenges of African economic development

"Algeria, proud of its deep-rooted African identity and firmly committed to the project of continental unity, today joins its voice with those of its African brethren to renew its commitment to and adherence to the principles and objectives of the AU, in the face of the multidimensional challenges that continue to threaten the security and stability of our countries and peoples and undermine our efforts to achieve sustainable development and legitimate prosperity," Mr. Attaf stressed in a speech on the occasion of the observance of World Africa Day.


In this connection, he pointed out that Algeria was also "working to make this approach a reality by mobilizing resources and energies to complete the implementation of regional and continental structural integration projects, such as the Trans-Saharan Highway project, the Lagos-Algiers gas pipeline, the Trans-Saharan Optical Fibre Backbone project and the road project linking Tindouf and the Mauritanian city of Zouerate".
