Visiting an exhibition of craft products held at the Gourara hotel in the province administrative centre, as part of his working visit to Timimoun, the minister said that "the sector is preparing to open a permanent market in Algiers for the exhibition of various craft products and other trades in which the country abounds, with the aim of promoting them nationally and internationally", adding that this operation is part of the sector's strategic plans.
This space will consist of open halls for presenting and selling craft products, offering an opportunity to promote local production and encourage marketing.
Mr Didouche also took the opportunity to point out that the province of Timimoun is renowned for the diversity of its handicrafts, including the Fatis carpet, products made from palm leaves, and traditional jewellery and clothing.
At the same exhibition, the Minister discovered an innovative model of a digital platform developed by a young citizen, for the promotion of crafts "Takalidi Hawiyati", (My traditions, My identity). This is a commercial platform bringing together artisans to market their craft products.
The Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts also listened to an exhaustive presentation on the sector in the province of Timimoun, which has 15 tourist facilities, including 14 hotels, 11 tourist campsites and 11 tourist agencies, helping to promote tourism in the Gourara region.
The province of Timimoun has two Tourism Expansion Zones (ZET) at Bordj and in the Tinerkouk region, as well as a ZET for hotel investment.
In addition, eight tourist circuits have been set up, covering various Ksour with vestiges, as well as the splendid natural landscapes of the Timimoun oasis.
The ministerial delegation continued its visit by inspecting the tourist circuit of the Ksour route (Ksar Ighzer "El Maghara"), and the Foggara irrigation system at Badgha Ouled Said, and visiting a local resident's home.
