Stellantis El Djazair has taken a major step forward in the development of the Algerian automotive industry by signing a 2nd subcontracting agreement with Italian equipment manufacturer Sigit. The agreement, formalized in Rome during the Algerian-Italian intergovernmental summit, aimed at the local production of essential new plastic parts for the FIAT plant in Tafraoui (Oran).

Algeria, the future regional automotive production hub

This partnership is the continuation of a fruitful and strategic collaboration. Thanks to this agreement, Sigit, in synergy with the Entreprise Nationale des Plastiques et Caoutchouc (ENPC) and its subsidiary Siplast, will manufacture key plastic components in Algeria. This move is a result of an agreement signed in May 2025, underlining both parties' commitment to industrial localization.

Stellantis El Djazair focuses on creating an integrated automotive ecosystem in Algeria. Currently, 13 suppliers are contributing to this goal, and the ambition is to achieve over 30% local content in vehicles produced at Tafraoui.

Raoui Beji, CEO of Stellantis El Djazair, underlined the importance of this partnership: " FIAT's industrial project in Algeria is today a strong symbol of the strategic cooperation between Algeria and Italy, and this new partnership with Sigit fully illustrates this. It is a further lever in our drive to build a solid industrial ecosystem, combining international synergies and local roots and reflecting our shared ambition to make Algeria a competitive platform for automotive production in the region."

This partnership represents a giant step forward for the Algerian economy, promoting technology transfer, local job creation and reduced dependence on imports. It also strengthens Algeria's position as a major player in regional automotive production.
