During his visit to this strategic project aimed at boosting Algeria's natural gas production capacity, Mr. Hachichi was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the CEO of the American company Baker Hughes, Lorenzo Simonelli, and the Executive Director of Operations of the Italian company Tecnimont, Paolo Borri, as well as several Sonatrach executives, representatives of the two contracting companies and CEOs of subsidiaries belonging to the public group.

On this occasion, a technical presentation was given on the various aspects of the project, focusing in particular on the pace of completion and compliance with contractual deadlines, adds the press release.

The delegation also visited the construction sites to inspect the progress of work, including the creation of three (3) gas compression units at the Centre, North and South stations, with a total of 20 turbine compressors, as well as the rehabilitation of the existing gas collection network and the creation of a demercurization unit.

The delegation also took a look at the logistical infrastructure and technical facilities associated with the project, which should help maintain a production rate of 188 million m3 of gas per day, and recover additional reserves estimated at 121 billion m3 of dry gas, 7 million tonnes of condensate and 3 million tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

The project is expected to be completed in 33, 36-39 months for the Central, North and South compression stages, respectively, with commissioning scheduled for October 2026, January 2027 and April 2027.

The project, entitled "Boosting III", is being carried out by a consortium comprising "Baker Hughes", "Nuovo Pignone International SRL" and "Tecnimont SPA", under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract signed with Sonatrach on May 23, 2024, according to the same source.

The project is one of several major structuring projects designed to address the natural depletion of the gas field and boost its production capacity, to guarantee continuity of supply, meet the needs of the national market and fulfilling contractual commitments to international partners, thereby consolidating Sonatrach's position as a reliable partner and major energy supplier on the world market, the press release stresses.
