In the wilaya of Sétif, which is heavily agricultural and dominated by cereal farming, seven local cereal storage centres have been built, each with a capacity of 50,000 quintals, for 350,000 quintals. These facilities, located in several municipalities including Aïn Azel and Aïn Oulmène, greatly facilitate the delivery of crops, which was previously marked by long waits.
This initiative comes at a time of good harvests and is part of a drive to improve yields, promote agricultural products, and strengthen food self-sufficiency. The governor of Setif, Mustapha Limani, praised the quality of the achievements and encouraged the involvement of local young people, emphasising that these centres are a major asset for the agricultural sector. The expansion of storage capacity to 9 million tons is also being considered to support this ambition.
