Mohamed Arkab receives delegation from ExxonMobil: Towards strengthening energy partnership with Algeria

On Tuesday, Minister of State and Minister of Energy Mohamed Arkab received a delegation from US multinational ExxonMobil, one of the world's leaders in the oil and gas sector, the ministry announced in a statement.

According to the press release, the meeting was part of ongoing consultations with the state-owned Sonatrach group and the Agence Nationale pour la Valorisation des Ressources en Hydrocarbures (ALNAFT) (National Agency for the Development of Hydrocarbon Resources).

Discussions focused on the current status and prospects for cooperation between ExxonMobil, Sonatrach and ALNAFT, particularly in the upstream oil and gas sector.

Finalizing the draft contract with Sonatrach and ALNAFT

On this occasion, Minister Arkab highlighted the many investment opportunities offered by the Algerian energy sector and reaffirmed the national strategy aimed at encouraging productive investment.

According to the press release, ExxonMobil vice-president Mr. Harker expressed his company's interest in expanding its activities in Algeria.

He praised the positive business climate and the relationship of trust established with Sonatrach, and expressed ExxonMobil's willingness to pursue ongoing consultations to finalizing the draft contracts in preparation with Sonatrach and ALNAFT, to launch long-term strategic investments.
