The head of the Algerian delegation, Boualem Bouadma, told APS that no fewer than five draft agreements were being prepared between Algerian and Syrian operators, particularly in the agri-food (beverages and olive oil) and cosmetics sctors.
Great interest in building materials
Construction materials attracted considerable interest from the Syrian side, despite the absence of Algerian companies from the sector at the fair, he added, noting that the contact details of specialized Algerian companies had been provided to Syrian operators for possible future partnerships. According to him, Algeria's participation could also lead to partnerships in the energy sector. Indeed, the Algerian Electricity and Gas Industries Company (SAIEG), a subsidiary of the Sonelgaz group, has established initial contact with Syrian partners, with discussions set to continue after the fair, given the strategic nature of this sector, he explained.
Highlighting the keen interest shown by Syrian operators in Algerian investments and their desire to see Algeria strengthen its presence in various sectors, particularly following the lifting of several restrictions on the Syrian economy, he stated that the implementation of these initiatives remains dependent on the resolution of certain issues related to banking procedures between the two parties.
The Algerian pavilion receives between 30 and 40 professional visits every day.
The Algerian pavilion receives between 30 and 40 professional visits every day, in addition to a large number of visitors from the general public, Bouadma said, adding that the Algerian space had also been visited by political and diplomatic figures, including the Syrian president's media advisor, representatives of the European Union, and ambassadors from several countries, in addition to the Algerian ambassador to Damascus, Abdelkader Kacimi El Hassani. The Algerian pavilion brings together 14 companies operating in strategic and promising sectors, including renewable energy, agri-food industries, and cosmetics.
As a reminder, Algeria's participation is under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, which emphasized that "much more than just a showcase for Algerian products and services," this major economic event, scheduled to run until September 5, constitutes a "bridge of fraternity and communication between businesspeople and investors from both countries and an opportunity for the exchange of expertise and the strengthening of economic integration in the service of the aspirations of both brotherly peoples."
