Pioneering project inspected by Cherfa in Ain Temouchent: Grapes to produce medical alcohol

During a visit yesterday to the wilaya of Ain Temouchent, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Youcef Cherfa, launched a project to produce medical alcohol from grapes, which are grown in abundance in this region.

A unique project in Algeria aimed at promoting agricultural products has been launched in Chentouf, on two hectares, by the public company DCAS. This industrial agricultural processing project, particularly for the production of medical alcohol, aims to reduce imports. The minister also emphasized the completion of nine grain storage centres and the strengthening of the dairy sector through the integration of local fresh milk. Other priorities discussed include the reorganisation of agricultural land, the establishment of cold storage facilities to support producers, and the enhancement of conditions for fishing professionals. The minister also encouraged the development of aquaculture, particularly red tilapia, to boost national production.
