At an event attended by several government members, including the Ministers of the Environment and Transport, and the Director General of Customs, Secretary of State Nourredine Yassaa presented Algeria's energy ambitions. He announced a production target of 15,000 megawatts by 2035, with a capacity already reached of 600 megawatts by the end of 2023, and reduced fossil fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. An initial programme of 3,200 megawatts, comprising 20 photovoltaic stations spread across several wilayas, is underway. Yassaa also mentioned Algeria's participation in producing sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), which can reduce carbon emissions in the aviation sector by up to 80%. International partnerships are also being developed, notably with the European Union (TaqatHy) and the SouthH2 Corridor project for exporting hydrogen to Europe.
