Agri-food industries: 35% increase in vocational training capacity

On Wednesday, the Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Yacine El Mahdi Oualid, and the Minister of Industry, Sifi Ghrieb, presided over the official opening of the Centre of Excellence for specialized training in the agri-food industries. He added that the number of training places in this speciality would be increased by 35% as of the next academic year.

Overall, Yacine El Mahdi Oualid reported that the establishments under his department's supervision were training 3,892 trainees, supervised by 220 teachers. "In coordination with the Ministry of Industry, we will be able to meet the industrial sector's need for skilled manpower," he assured. He emphasized that "the huge shortfall in many industrial specialities will be made good by the training on offer at the Centre of Excellence (inaugurated today, ed.)".

 

The Minister affirmed that his department's objectives are focused on "the immediate employability of vocational training and education graduates". There is strong demand for new trades in the industrial and pharmaceutical sectors.
