Clean energy: Sonatrach and Spain's CEPSA aim to strengthen their partnership

The national group announced in a press release on Thursday that Sonatrach CEO Rachid Hachichi met his counterpart from the Spanish company CEPSA, Maarten Wetselaar, to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation between the two companies in the field of clean energies.

As part of strengthening their partnership, Sonatrach and the Spanish company CEPSA discussed ways of consolidating their cooperation, emphasising clean and renewable energies. The two companies reaffirmed their commitment to developing innovative and sustainable projects, notably through a memorandum of understanding signed last October for a joint feasibility study of an integrated green hydrogen production project in Algeria, intended primarily for the European market.

The project involves the construction of a hydrogen electrolysis production plant powered by solar and wind power stations, thus, helping to achieve both companies' decarbonization objectives. CEPSA, a long-standing partner of Sonatrach, is an integrated global energy player, committed to renewable energies and green hydrogen.
