Energy efficiency, heading for a new global roadmap

The International Energy Agency (IEA) will hold its 10ᵉ International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Brussels on June 12 and 13.

An international conference organised as part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week is bringing together political and economic decision-makers to double the rate of improvement in global energy efficiency by 2030. The aim is to promote a transition to a clean, secure and affordable energy system, targeting the building, industry and transport sectors. Algeria is taking an active part in this initiative and showcasing its energy efficiency efforts through a national programme that includes thermal insulation, conversion of vehicles to LPG, modernisation of public lighting, and restrictions on energy-guzzling equipment. Incentive measures and pilot projects accompany this strategy, which is supported by audits, training and collaboration with the IEA. Algeria, a founding member of RCREEE, is also stepping up partnerships to facilitate access to green financing. The event includes ministerial and CEO round tables to discuss concrete solutions.
