The National Association of Traders and Craftsmen (ANCA) organised a national conference in Algiers on self-employment, aimed at encouraging young people to start their own businesses and fully participate in the national economy. Its president, Hadj Tahar Boulenouar, emphasized the strategic role of the self-employment card in reducing unemployment, facilitating access to markets, and stimulating investment in lagging sectors such as recycling, services, and tourism. The event brought together several key institutions and served as a platform to present converging visions on the importance of self-entrepreneurship. ANCA plans to hold regular meetings to connect young entrepreneurs with the national market, guide projects towards promising niches, encourage innovation, and develop digital tools. With around 30,000 self-employed businesses, the country remains underserved, and ANCA wants to help build a more diversified and creative economy.
